How to Make Poha
Poha is a popular Maharashtrian breakfast dish and regular breakfast dish. It is a light breakfast. It is also very easy and quick to prepare. If the guest arrives, then this dish is made for the guest. This is the famous dish in Maharashtra.
Ingredients :-
- 2 Cup Thick Poha
- 1 Cup Chopped Onion
- 1/2 Cup Chopped Potato
- 1/4 Cup Chopped Coriander leaves
- 1/2 Cup Grated Coconut
- 2 Or 3 Chopped Green Chili
- 1/4 Cup Groundnuts
- 1/2 Teaspoon Mustard Seeds
- 1/2 Teaspoon Cumin Seeds
- 1/4 Teaspoon turmeric powder
- 2 Teaspoon Lemon Juice
- 2 Teaspoon sugar (Optional)
- 3 Teaspoon Oil
- Salt
Recipe :-
- Take 2 cup thick poha in pot.
- Wash it 1-2 times, drain the water completely. Set aside to soften for 5 minutes.
- Heat 3 teaspoons oil in a pan.
- Add 1/2 teaspoon mustard seeds and 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds.
- Add chopped green chilies, 1/4 cup groundnuts, 1 cup chopped onion, 1/2 cup chopped potato, salt as per your taste and mix well. ( Add green peas if you like).
- Cook covered for 3-4 minutes until onion will pink and potato will soft. Stir occasionally.
- Add 1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder and mix well.
- After that add poha and mix well.
- Add 2 teaspoon sugar, 2 teaspoon lemon juice and mix well.
- Keep Covered for 5 minutes. After some time poha will be ready.
- Serve in a plate and garnish it, 1st sprinkle little chopped coriander leaves and then sprinkle the grated coconut on top of coriander leaves if you like.
Extra Tips :-
- If you want to try north style poha then don't forget to add fine shev on top of it.
- You can make it more happening if you add spicy misal curry on top if you are spicy food lover.
- You can make it Indori dish Poha-Jalebi by adding Jalebi by side.
