Sabudana Khichadi

Sabudana Khichadi is a delicious dish of tapioca pearls (sago) made with potatoes and groundnuts. It is a Indian dish. It is the dish of choice when an individual observes a "Fast" during Shivratri, Sravan, Navratri or a Hindu religious occasion. You can also use for breakfast, snacks.
 

Ingredients :-

  • 2 Cup Sabudana(Tapioca Pearls Or Sago)
  • 1 Medium Chopped Potato
  • 1/2 Cup Crushed Groundnuts
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Cumin Seeds
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Red Chili Powder
  • 1 -2 Teaspoon Lemon Juice
  • 1 Teaspoon sugar
  • Salt 
  • Oil

Recipe :-

  1. Take 2 cup sabudana in a large bowl.
  2. First wash it, then add 2 cup water and soak sabudana for 4 to 6 hours. You can also soak overnight. I soaked the sabudana overnight and in the morning they had become soft.
  3. Drain all the water completely from soaked sabudana. 
  4. Check it if they have softened. If they haven't softened, then soak for some more time.
  5. Heat some oil in a pan. Then add 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds, 1 medium chopped potato, salt as per your taste and mix it well. 
  6. Cover with a lid and cook them, saute in-between.
  7. When potato is cooked then add 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder, soaked sabudana and mix it well. If you like green chilies then you can also add some chopped green chilies in it.
  8. Add 1/2 cup crushed groundnuts and mix it. Add 1 teaspoon sugar (optional) and 2 teaspoon lemon juice and mix it well. 
  9. Then Cover for 5 minutes and saute in-between.
After some time Sabudana Khichadi will be ready. Then you can serve it. If you like buttermilk or curd so you can serve it with buttermilk or curd.
