Gajar halwa is delicious dessert. Gajar halwa is a combination of nuts, milk, sugar, and ghee with grated carrot. It is a light nutritious dessert with less fat than many other typical sweets. At festival time many people prefer vegetarian dishes as well as desserts/sweets in their Thali. Because of its low fat content. The dessert is traditionally eaten during all of the festivals in India. The dish is popular among adults as well as children. It is served hot during the winter. 
 

Ingredients :-

  • 250 Gram Carrot
  • 2 tbsp Ghee
  • 1 Cup Sugar
  • 1/2 tbsp Popy Seeds(Khaskhas)
  • 1/4 Cup Fine Pieces of Cashews
  • 1/4 Cup Fine Pieces of Almond
  • 8 - 10 Raisins(Kishmish)
  • 2 tbsp Malai
  • 1 Cup Full Cream Milk

How to Make Gajar Halwa :-

  1. Take 250 gram carrot, wash it well and peel them. 
  2. Grate the carrots with a hand held grater Or food processor.
  3. Heat 2 tbsp ghee in a deep pan.
  4. After that add grated carrot and suate it for 10 minutes on the medium flame.
  5. After 10 minutes add 2 tbsp malai and mix it well.
  6. Add 1/2 tbsp popy seeds(khaskhas), 1/4 cup fine pieces of cashews, 1/4 cup fine pieces of almond, 8 - 10 raisins (kishmish) and mix it well.
  7. Add 1 cup full cream milk and stir it occasionally.
  8. When the milk gets completely evaporated then add sugar and stir it.
  9. Sugar will add lot of moisture and will make the entire carrot halwa soft and tender.
  10. Cook untill the moisture evaporates completely.
  11. When it is done gajar halwa turns aromatic and thickens as well.
After that garnish gajar halwa with nuts and serve it.
