Hello friends, welcome to our Recipes by Shraddha blog. Today's dish is misal pav, this dish is popular in Maharashtra. There are different versions of misal pav such as Pune misal, Nashik misal, Kolhapur misal, Khandeshi Misal and Ahmednagar misal. Other types of kalya masalyachi misal and sev misal. Misal is prepared in part with sprouted moth and spicy cut. This dish is mostly eaten for breakfast or as a middy snacks or sometimes some people eaten for meal.


Ingredients :- 

  • 2 Cup sprouts moth
  • 1/2 Cup grated coconut
  • 2 Medium onion(slices for vatan)
  • 1 tbsp Coriander seeds
  • 1 tsp Cumin seeds
  • 6 - 7 Garlic cloves
  • 1 Inch Ginger
  • 1 Onion fine chopped 
  • 2 Green chilli chopped
  • Turmeric powder
  • 1 tbsp Kashmiri chilli powder
  • 1 tbsp Kanda lasun masala
  • 1 tsp Red chilli powder
  • Salt 
  • Oil

Ingredients for Garnish :- 

  • Farsan
  • Boiled sprouts moth
  • Onion fine chopped
  • Coriander leaves chopped
  • Spicy cut

Recipe :-

  1. Take sprouts moth and rinse it then add a cooker and add one and half glass of water, add 1 pinch of turmeric powder, 1/2 tsp salt.
  2. Pressure cook until 1 whistle on medium flame. When cooker will cool then drain the sprouts moth and reserve the water.
  3. Heat a pan on medium flame, add coriander seeds and cumin seeds then rost it and take out from the pan.
  4. Add grated coconut and rost  it after rosting take out from the pan. 
  5. Then add in same pan 2 tsp oil, Garlic cloves, ginger and saute it for few seconds. Add onion and cook till it golden brown after that take out from the pan. Keep aside for cool. 
  6. After that grind it fine paste, heat oil in a same pan.
  7. Add chilli and saute it, add onion and saute for 1 minute.
  8. Add 1/4 tsp turmeric powder, red chilli powder, kanda lasun masala, kashmiri chilli powder and saute it for few seconds.
  9. Add vatan in it and saute till they start leaving their oil then add some sprouts moth and saute it for a minute.
  10. Add reserved water in it, if you want more water in it then you can add as require.
  11. Add salt as per taste, some coriander leaves and cook for 2 - 3 minute on medium flame. After that switch off the flame.
  12. Take a plate add some farsan, add some boiled sprouts moth on top of the farsan, add kat in it then garnish with some onion and coriander leaves.(If you like lemon then you can add some lemon juice.)
  13. Then serve delicious misal with pav or bread.
